Center Stage Academy Youth Classes

Center Stage Academy classes are an excellent opportunity for students of all ages to jump into the joy of the arts! Whether it’s performing arts, vocal performance, or visual arts, there is something for everyone!  Come perform a Broadway classic, work with your peers to create a show of your own or dabble in a new painting technique – all experience levels are welcome!  It is our goal to instill the importance of the arts, while fostering the life skills of self-confidence, responsibility, teamwork, critical thinking, interpersonal communication, problem solving, empathy, and more.  Join us at the Center for the Arts in downtown Murfreesboro for classes full of fun!

Fall 2025

Production Classes

Our Production Classes are for everyone from beginners to advanced performers.  Our goal is developing and enhancing theatrical performance through instruction in acting, music/voice, and movement/dance.  Production Classes will culminate with a full production or showcase at the end of the session. 

We offer both after school and during the day homeschool classes!

After School Production Classes

Elementary One

Grades K-2

Cost: $250

Our Elementary One Performers program is a creative drama experience using play to teach the basics of being onstage.  Our K-2 students can expect games, songs, creative movement, dance, and performance basics culminating in an end of camp showcase.

The Best Christmas Pageant Ever

Grades 2-6

Cost: $395

Our The Best Christmas Pageant Ever Production programming is for everyone from beginners to advanced performers.  Our goal is to develop and enhance theatrical performance through instruction in acting, music/voice, movement/dance and a theatrical production.  Our 2nd-5th grade students can expect games, character creation and analysis, voice & speech training, and performance coaching.  Our program will culminate with a full production of the classic play at the end of the session. This is a non-musical performance.

The Wizard of Oz

Our The Wizard of Oz Production programming is for everyone from beginners to advanced performers.  Our goal is to develop and enhance theatrical performance through instruction in acting, music/voice, movement/dance and a theatrical production.  Our 6th-12th grade students can expect games, character creation and analysis, choreography, voice & speech training, and performance coaching.  Our program will culminate with a full production of the musical theatre classic at the end of the session.

Level Up Classes

 Level Up is an intensive program designed for students in grades 5-12 to attain specific performance skills in a small group environment.  Students will work on one technique for a short period of time to gain further depth of knowledge in a focus area of theatre performance. It is our goal that participants will feed directly into our CFTA Teen Company.

There are no performances for these classes.

Auditioning 101

Grades 5-12

Auditioning is the first step to your journey onstage. Come learn everything from the basics of a prepared audition to the insider information of what directors are looking for. Walk out of this class with confidence, ready to tackle your next audition like a pro!

Character Development: Who am I?

Grades 5-12

Creating a character is one of the most exciting parts of being onstage!  Join us as we dig deeper into a script to discover the details of a role.  Find your character’s personality, voice, body language, and more.  We can’t wait to see your character come to life!

Acting Through Movement

Grades 5-12

Cost: $220

This class is a space where students will learn character development through the lens of Movement and Dance! There’s no need to have dance experience; in this class students will play theater games, explore improv tasks and theater methods that will be both educational and fun for our students! The goal is that  students feel empowered, playful, and excited to explore and curate characters alongside their peers!

Visual Arts is a program designed for students looking to enhance their creativity. This intensive will give students an opportunity to explore the basics of visual art and create multiple take home pieces. Each student’s work will be highlighted in a gallery display and celebrated with a reception open to family and friends.

Photography

Grades 6-12

Cost: $325

In the Photography class, we will be learning how to develop a creative eye and appreciation for the art of photography. Students will learn about composition and light to make images with emotion and unique perspective. Students are not required to have a specific type of equipment. Anything from a cell phone camera, to a point and shoot, or a DSLR are acceptable.  Each student’s work will be highlighted in a weekend gallery display and celebrated with a reception open to family and friends.

Center Stage Academy Closure Policy

The Center for the Arts is closed on all National Holidays.  Weather related closures are based on Rutherford County and Murfreesboro City Schools.  If either school system is closed due to inclement weather, all educational programming is cancelled.  For individual lessons please contact your teacher directly.
