For more than 30 years, Center for the Arts has been a place where creativity, community, and culture come together in the heart of historic downtown Murfreesboro. As a nonprofit performing and visual arts organization, we provide inspiring theatrical productions, arts education, gallery exhibitions, concerts, and community programs that enrich lives and make the arts accessible to people of all ages.

About The Center For The Arts

Center for the Arts traces its roots to 1995, when community leaders established the City-County Cultural Arts Commission with a vision of expanding access to the arts and creating a permanent home for cultural experiences in Murfreesboro and Rutherford County. In 2008, the organization officially became Center for the Arts, growing into a vibrant nonprofit that now serves thousands of patrons, students, artists, and volunteers each year through live theatre, arts education, visual arts exhibitions, concerts, and community enrichment programs. Today, Center for the Arts continues to inspire creativity, foster lifelong learning, and strengthen our community through the transformative power of the arts.

Our home is one of Murfreesboro’s most treasured historic landmarks. Constructed in 1909 as the city’s first United States Post Office, the building later served as the Rutherford County Public Library before beginning its next chapter as a center for arts and culture. Thoughtfully preserved while adapting to the needs of a thriving nonprofit arts organization, the building stands as a bridge between Murfreesboro’s rich history and its creative future, a welcoming place where stories are shared, artists are nurtured, and our community comes together through the arts.

Cat Glidwell was born and raised in Nashville and has lived in Murfreesboro for most of her adult life. She has been pursuing her love of theatre for over 26 years. She is classically trained in Shakespeare from Oglethorpe University and Stella Adler Studio of Acting, and has earned a certificate in theatre management from NYU. She is no stranger to the Center for the Arts stage, currently working on her 7th main stage production. With 9 years of teaching experience, she is thrilled to be spending her summer blending her love of theatre with her love of education!

Q Rankins

Quantavius “Q” Rankins is a Nashville Native who is honored to be teaching for CSA. He is trained in over 10 styles of dance and finds it fulfilling to be anle to impart his wisdom in the same community he grew up in. His credits include the Millennium Dance Complex in both Nashville and Los Angeles, 20 years of performer experience, and in 2019 he embarked as a featured dancer on a World tour performing across the UK and America. Q has been a teaching artist for the past nine years. He has taught masterclasses at MDC Nashville, Belmont University, MTSU, etc… He has also been a mainstage choreographer around Middle Tennessee and was nominated for “Best Choreography” by his community. He is also a proud alum of the MTSU Performing Arts Company. Outside of CSA, Q spends adores books and spending time with his best friends. He is also the proud choreographer for the musical theatre department at Oakland High School.
