Welcome!

Welcome to The Center for the Arts (CFTA)! A new energy pervades here at the Center. Over the past year, CFTA has been working through a significant transition. The change in our logo symbolizes the vision behind this transformation.

In April of 2008 The Center for the Arts became a private not-for-profit 501(c)3 organization and is no longer supported by the City of Murfreesboro or Rutherford County. We now depend upon grants, endowments and the revenue generated from shows and other projects as our sole means of support. In other words, it is the generosity of people like you who keep our good work going through your donations, patronage and volunteer participation.

Here at the Center we offer our community the chance to explore and enjoy the world of visual and performing arts. We are committed to sharing access to education and performance to those who embrace the arts as well as providing an important civic service by our engagement in the life and culture of Murfreesboro, Rutherford County and Middle Tennessee. Last year over 18,000 visitors passed through our doors to attend over 117 performances and art shows in this most beautiful venue.

We are proud to occupy this historical building as we celebrate our 100 year anniversary. That being said, we are also fully aware of our current physical and aesthetic needs and opportunities that have come up due to the buildings’ age and the large numbers of people who pass through here.

In order to give our Center a much needed face-lift, we have recently begun the Christy-Houston Matching & Development Fund Drive 2009. We must raise $90,000 for capital improvements and developments in order to continue to help cover the operational costs of bringing fine theatrical performances, visual arts and children’s educational programs to Murfreesboro, Rutherford County and the surrounding areas.

For every dollar you donate, Christy-Houston will match your donation. As always, your donations, patronage and support are greatly appreciated and are more important than ever! Please know that each dollar you donate goes directly to The Center and is tax deductible by you.

All of the work we do here at CFTA would not be possible without the involvement of our community and our volunteers and we extend our sincerest thanks.
